In this part of the tutorial let us learn how to create exteriors. Let’s leave modeling interior part of an house from where we left in House Creation - Building Blocks tutorial, for the time being and focus on the exterior. We’ll come back to the interior later and finish the texturing, lighting and rendering in part three. For now though, we’re going to concentrate on getting a roof over our heads

Step one
Well this is what we have so far. Zoom in on the porch area in the front viewport. Start with a rectangle shape object and convert it to an editable poly. Use quick slice and the cut tool along with extrude to get a shape like this. Make sure it is lined up in the left viewport as well.

Step two
Hit ‘4’ on the keyboard and CRTL+select all the polys. Now use the extrude tool to get a 3d shape. Move the vertices if necessary and align properly in the left viewport.

Step three
In the left viewport, rotate the porch roof along the Z axis while holding down the SHIFT key to make a copy of it. Press ‘1’ on the keyboard to enter the vertex mode and reposition the vertices. Don’t forget to area select them.
