Ok, you’re back for part two. Good! We had just finished that rear door. Now let’s try another way of doing the front door. Maybe you’d like to have the door open. So what we are going to do is detach the door from the bus. |
| |
Step 1 |
Change to the front viewport and press ‘4’ to activate polygon mode. CRTL select all of the polys that make up the door. You will have to use ALT+X to make the mesh see through. Don’t forget to CRTL+R to rotate the viewport and select the polys on top of the door, too. |

Step 2 |
Now in the polygon options menu track down the ‘Detach’ button. Click it and a little screen appears. Here we can give it a new name ‘door’, and choose to detach it as an element of the bus or clone it. Choose neither, as we want it to be a separate object. |

Step 3 |
Deselect the bus and select the new door. You’ll notice that it doesn’t have the Mesh Smooth modifier now. That’s no problem, though. We can do that later. Now we need to hide the door in order to fix the sides of the bus. Click on the ‘Utilities’ tab, then ‘Hide Selected’ button. |
