Step 1 |
In this tutorial, we will try to make a Snowy Mountain scene in 3dsmax. We will work with several types of Materials/Maps in the tutorial frequently. So, I am highly recommending you to study on the following Maps’ usage from the Help menu > User Interface of 3dsMax: Top/Bottom Material, Mask Map, Mix Map, Noise Map, Cellular Map, Gredient Map, and other types of maps/features that have been covered in within this tutorial. Studying these will help you to have the explanations/reasons of using these in this step-by-step tutorial. It may not be possible for me to give explanations with every steps. Start with a Plane object as shown. Choosing “Square” in Creation Method will allow you to draw the Plane from center outward. |

Step 2 |
We will use Displacement modifier to make the mountains. For that, we need a lot of segments (towards both length and width). So, adjust the parameters of the Plane01 object as shown below. |
